Release Notes for PowerBuilder® and InfoMaker® Version 2017 Localized Runtime Files

Last revised: November 27, 2017

This file contains installation information for the localized runtime files for PowerBuilder and InfoMaker 2017 (build 1681).

Section I: General Information

PowerBuilder localized runtime files are available in eight European languages: Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish.

The localized PowerBuilder runtime files are needed to display standard dialog boxes, PowerBuilder messages, and user interface elements (such as day and month names in spin controls) in the local language. PowerBuilder functions return translated strings when appropriate. For example, the PowerBuilder DayName function returns a day name in the local language, and the String function returns a month in the local language when used with a display format that uses the mask "mmm."

Section II: Software Requirements

Applications deployed with the files in this distribution must be developed using the PowerBuilder or InfoMaker 2017 Release (build 1681).

In addition to the files listed in the preceding table, each zip file includes some core runtime files, such as libjcc.dll, libjutils.dll etc. These files are not localized but are required on all computers on which you install the localized runtime files. For information about additional runtime files your application might require, see the chapter on deploying your application in Application Techniques in the PowerBuilder 2017 collection in the Product Manuals web site.

Section IV: Installation

To install the PowerBuilder or InfoMaker application and localized files:

  1. Create a temporary folder on the computer where you will install the application.
  2. Copy the zip file for the language you require to the temporary folder.
  3. Create a folder for the application on the computer, for example C:\appname.
  4. Copy the application developed using PowerBuilder or InfoMaker 2017 build 1681 to the folder you created in Step 3.
  5. Extract the contents of the zip file into the same folder, or into another folder on the application's search path.
