Introduction

The Appeon PowerServer 2020 MR 2781.00 (For All Versions on Windows) is a setup program that updates the following Appeon components installed from the installation package of Appeon PowerServer 2020 2333.00 (Japanese) or above:

When applying this MR, please make sure to update your developer and production servers, and do a full deployment of your application after the MR has been applied.

Checking existing Appeon component versions

This MR can only be applied to Appeon PowerServer 2020 2333.00 (Japanese) or above. If you have an older version please contact support@appeon.com. The MR setup program will automatically check which Appeon components and versions are already installed before performing any update. You can also check the Appeon component version with the following procedure:

Step 1: Open Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel.
Step 2: In the list of currently installed programs, check for the following Appeon component(s): PowerServer Web & Mobile, PowerServer Help, or PowerServer Web Component.
Step 3: Click the Appeon component name, then click support information under the component.
Step 4: Obtain the version information provided in the Support Info window (the last six digits indicate the version number, for example, 12.0.2781.00 where 2781.00 is the version number).

MR installation note

Installing the MR on JBoss/JEUS/IIS .NET
Run the MR setup program on all computers containing an Appeon component that needs updating.

Installing the MR on WebSphere
Run the MR setup program on all computers containing an Appeon component that needs updating. In order to make the MR update of PowerServer take effect on the WebSphere, go to Applications > Enterprise Applications in the WebSphere Server Administrator Console, and then click the Update button.

Installing the MR on WebLogic
Run the MR setup program on all computers containing an Appeon component that needs updating. When you update the PowerServer, please follow the instructions below:
1. Exit the WebLogic Server.
2. Run the MR setup program.
3. Check the staging mode in WebLogic (see Table-1) and then follow the instructions regarding different staging modes and WebLogic versions to make the MR update take effect (see Table-2).
4. Restart WebLogic Server.

Log in to the WebLogic Administrative Console, and choose Deployments > Applications > appeonserver. The staging mode lists in the General sub-tab page in the Configuration window.

9, 10, 11g, 12 Log in to the WebLogic Administrative Console, and click the Deployments item. In the Summary of Deployments window, click the appsdir_appeonserver_ear item. The staging mode lists in the Overview page.

1) Use the new appeonserver.ear file under .\WEBLOGIC_INSTALLATION_PATH\appeon to replace the old appeonserver.ear file under the .\WEBLOGIC_DOMAIN_DIRECTORY\applications for every PowerServer instance.

2) Go to Deployments > Applications > appeonserver, in the Deploy window click the Redeploy Application button to deploy all modules in the PowerServer so to make the MR update take effect.

The MR update takes effect when the Status of Last Action column is successful after the redeployment.

9, 10, 11g, 12

If PowerServer (appsdir_appeonserver_ear) is marked as autodeployed, you need to delete the temporary files of the appsdir_appeonserver_ear package. If you cannot find the temporary file please refer to the instructions in the Appendix.

Nostage

Use the new appeonserver.ear file under .\WEBLOGIC_INSTALLATION_PATH\appeon to replace the old appeonserver.ear file under the .\WEBLOGIC_DOMAIN_DIRECTORY\applications for every PowerServer instance.

The MR update will take effect automatically when you restart WebLogic.

9, 10, 11g, 12

External_stage

All versions

Copy the appeonserver.ear file from .\WEBLOGIC_INSTALLATION_PATH\appeon to the directory that you specified for every PowerServer instance.

MR silent installation

To run the MR installation in the silent mode, execute the MR setup program from the command line with the "/s" parameter: "setup.exe /s". You will need to run this command for each Appeon component individually.

If the application server is a Java server such as JBoss, JEUS, WebLogic, and WebSphere, before you execute the setup command, open the SilentInstall.ini file under each component setup package and modify the "JDKHome" parameter to point to the correct JDK location, for example, JDKHome=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_60.

Checking Appeon component versions after MR installation

After the MR installation, you can get the version number (2020 2781.00) of Appeon PowerServer from the Windows control panel using the same instructions in Checking existing Appeon component versions.

MR uninstallation note

There is no separate uninstall program for Appeon MR. Uninstalling the Appeon components will automatically uninstall the MR.

Appendix

Instructions of checking the location of the temporary file in WebLogic:
1) Log in to WebLogic Administrative Console.
2) Click Servers item listed in the middle of the Home page.
3) Select AdminServer (assuming your PowerServer is installed to this instance).
4) In the Settings of AdminServer window, click the Deployment tab in the Configuration window, the path listed in the Staging Directory Name is the location of the temporary file
